Today is the final day of the Saloni 2010, which opened at the Milan Fairgrounds on 14th April, along with the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, SaloneSatellite and the biennial Eurocucina and International Bathroom Exhibition.

I Saloni 2010: the furnishing world on phones the world over
In collaboration with its technological partner Neos, Cosmit has come up with “i Saloni”, a user-friendly phone app, deployed via the mobc3 mobile platform. This application is compatible with all phones, and will enable sectoral operators and the general public to connect from their iPhone, iPad, smartphone or previous generation mobile phone.

The Very First SaloneSatellite Award
The three winners of the first ever edition of the SaloneSatellite Award were announced yesterday, in another step towards facilitating the interface between offer and demand, designers and businessmen and creativity and production. The prizes were awarded on the basis of poetry, technological innovation and social commitment.

Ufficio Fabbrica Creativa. The Italian Way!
The Saloni 2010 will be devoting an interactive installation and an experiential event to the theme of the office, which will involve both participants and visitors in reflections, research analyses and ideas for innovative interpretations of the workspace. The Five Senses and Conviviality
In honour of Eurocucina, the Saloni are holding a multimedia event, a story of the Italian style of conviviality through a mosaic of emotional and sensorial suggestions evoked by memories of famous Renaissance banquets, film sequences, paintings, literary passages, theatrical performances and famous names from the world of cooking, art and culture. To be held at Villa Reale and the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan, from 14th April to 9th May 2010.

A Celestial Bathrooom
This year the International Bathroom Furniture Exhibition opens in Milan with an event devoted to the bathroom as seen through the beauty of the female form and the celestial vault. It will run from 14 th to 19th April at the Civic Planetarium Ulrico Hoepli in Milan's Giardini Pubblici, close to the Villa Reale which is hosting Cosmit's other event, dedicated to the world of eating and cooking, being held as part of Eurocucina, the International Kitchen Furniture Exhibition, and the Saloni 2010.

Unexpected Guests
Yesterday's homes, today's design
The Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, Casa Boschi di Stefano, Villa Necchi Campiglio and the Museo Poldi Pezzoli are proud to present, in collaboration with Cosmit and the Culture Council of Milan, the exhibition Unexpected Guests. Yesterday's homes, today's design. From 11 March to 2 May 2010, objects of contemporary design will be installed in the spaces of Milan's four historic house museums, complementing and contrasting with the existing architecture, paintings and decorative arts.

The data for 2009 confirm that this was an annus horribilis for the wood-furnishing sector: in 2008 the credit crunch had just begun to bite, especially with the particularly tough final quarter, but in 2009 it all went sky-high.

I Saloni WorldWide: a team effort
Saloni WorldWide will make its sixth, and much-awaited, return visit to Moscow in October, with a huge range of commercial goods, representative of all that is best about Made in Italy. A large number of companies have already confirmed their attendance, which sends a positive signal to the home furnishing sector as a whole. From 6th to 9th October at Crocus Expo in Moscow, now directly connected to the city centre by underground.

La Mano del Designer
The Hand of the Designer
Saturday, 10th April, 2010 will see the opening to the public of “The Hand of the Designer”, an exhibition organised by FAI - Fondo Ambiente Italiano (the Italian National Trust) and alterstudio partners. On show will be more than 450 signed drawings and sketches by more than 150 of the most renowned Italian and international designers, which they have kindly donated to FAI.

Cosmit and Moratti sign the Memorandum of Understanding for Expo 2015
Today, within the context of the Saloni 2009 preview, a Memorandum of Understanding to promote and plan joint initiatives for developing the theme of Expo Milano 2015 was signed by the Mayor of Milan and Government Extraordinary Commissioner for Expo Milano 2015, Letizia Moratti, and the President and CEO of Cosmit, Carlo Guglielmi and Manlio Armellini.
